Do you need a 4X4 to get to Massingir Safaris?

You do not need a 4X4 to get to us. You need a vehicle with a high clearance to get to Nyala Tented Camp.

Can I tow my boat/caravan?

You should have no problem towing your boat or caravan to Main Camp.

Does spending a night at Massingir Safaris count as a night in the Park?

Overnighting at Massingir Safaris counts as a night in the Park, but you will still have to pay entrance fees to both Limpopo National Park (Mozambique side) and the Kruger National Park.

Will you issue us with a border letter?

The booking confirmation you receive from us once your deposit has been paid will be the proof of your booking at Massingir Safaris.

What are the Limpopo National Park fees?

Limpopo National Park fees as at 31 August 2022.  These can increase at any time, use as a guideline only.

How do I pay for the balance of my booking?

Please pay in cash in either Meticais (MZN) or Rands.  We do not have card facilities because we are so remote and the WIFI signal is not strong/consistent enough.

What are the road conditions from Giriyondo to Massingir Safaris?

The first 68km of dirt road is good in places, corrugated and very sandy in other areas, there are a few sharp turns.  You have to drive slowly, generally keep left, the trip takes around 2 hours.  The Massingir Safaris gate is 25km along the tarred road from town.  There are a few uneven parts and a few pot holes, many cattle and pedestrians – drive slowly and carefully.

How is the road and what are the directions from Massingir Safaris to the EN1?

From Massingir Safaris gate to the T-junction where you turn right to Chokwe is 75kms along quite a straight road with a few curves – take care of uneven areas, potholes, plenty of livestock as well as pedestrians.
It is another 20kms from the T-junction to Chokwe, from Chokwe you can drive towards Macia for 60kms and then turn left onto the EN1 to drive north towards Xai Xai 60km/Inhambane 250km along the EN1 or/
In Chokwe you can turn left at the robot and head towards Guija, Chibuto and then Chongoene – around 100kms on a good road with lovely scenery.  You will pay 50MZN for the tollgate in Guija.

Wifi/Phone Networks that work in the area?
  • If travelling from SA to Mozambique, you will lose signal just after Letaba camp.
  • There is not very good signal until you get to Massingir town.
  • The local network that works best in this area is Movitel.
  • We have free WIFI at both Main Camp as well as Nyala Tented Camp.
What time can I check-in and check-out?
  • Check-in time is any time from 14h00 to 18h00.
  • Check-out time is any time from 6h00 to 10h00.
